About List of Human Emotions
List of Human Emotions is a free, independent educational reference about the emotions people feel — what they are, what triggers them, how they're expressed, and how they relate to one another. The site began as a small emotions microsite and has been rebuilt as a sourced, plain-language psychology reference.
We follow mainstream frameworks: the six basic emotions described by Paul Ekman Group — Universal Emotions, the combinatorial model of Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions (Robert Plutchik) — overview, and definitions from the American Psychological Association — APA Dictionary: emotion. For emotion-related states that touch on mental health (such as anxiety and depression), we point to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) — Anxiety Disorders. See our sources & fact-check policy for how we do this.
This site provides general educational information about emotions and is not medical, psychological, or diagnostic advice. If you are struggling, please consult a qualified professional.
